In a wave of relief, Meta Platform Inc’s (META.O) Instagram resurfaced like a phoenix for the majority of its users. Following a perplexing technical hiccup that disrupted services for countless individuals, the issue was finally laid to rest.
According to a spokesperson from Meta, they acknowledged, “Earlier today, an unexpected technical dilemma hindered access to Instagram for some users. We swiftly resolved the matter, ensuring everyone affected could resume their Instagram experience without delay,” as conveyed to Reuters.
The exact count of users affected by the disruption was not disclosed by the company. However, Downdetector.com, a website that monitors outages, showcased an alarming tally of over 100,000 incidents in the United States, 24,000 in Canada, and a staggering 56,000 in Britain.
At the peak of the outage, an astonishing 180,000 users raised concerns about accessing Instagram, forming a symphony of frustration and bewilderment.
The temporary absence of Instagram affected select users on Sunday, starting around 5:45 p.m. EST (2145 GMT), as reported by Downdetector.com. However, as time progressed, the number of outages diminished to just over 7,000 reports by 8:30 p.m. EST.
